Workshop camp on Strynø – artistic immersion in the South Funen Archipelago
In the middle of the archipelago on Strynø, Øhavets Smakkecenter invites you to a workshop camp focusing on artistic methods and immersion.
Here, there is time to delve deeply into materials, craftsmanship and processes – surrounded by the sea, the shipyard environment and the island's unique landscape.
The Easter Camp is primarily aimed at adults and takes the form of an intensive course with presentations, group discussions and individual feedback from three local artists.
Create in the landscape – around the clock
The workshops take place in the island landscape, at the boat yard and in the Smakkecenter exhibition hall. The facilities are open around the clock, so there is room for both the clear thoughts of the morning and the experiments of the evening.
The workshops focus on:
- Weaving
- Landscape art
- Metalwork
The programme alternates between individual processes and group discussions about artistic methods and understanding materials.
Highly skilled instructors
Participants will meet three experienced instructors:
- Søren Højbjerg, a trained toolmaker, works with large ship engines and intricate art objects that challenge our view of function and material.
- Bitten Andersen, a weaver trained at the Design School, works with both classic and experimental weaving techniques – including natural materials from the sea.
- Hanne Bat Finke, landscape architect and former professor, has worked extensively with artistic methods and learning in the landscape as a space.
Together, they create a safe and professionally strong space where there is room to experiment, fail and develop.
Creative days with community
The camp offers shared meals and ends with an open long table dinner. Along the way, there is also room for walks on Strynø, sea bathing and experiencing the island's unique nature.
Strynø is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark South Funen Archipelago – a flooded ice age landscape where sea and land merge. Here, the core narrative of time for contemplation, a desire for community and space for change is felt quite naturally.
