Bear your mistakes: A musical knitting evening at Langeland Library

Langeland Library invites you to an atmospheric evening on 10 March at 7 p.m., where knitting needles and double bass provide the backdrop for music, storytelling and community in the library's peaceful surroundings.

The evening will be accompanied by bassist, composer and knitwear designer Albert Reinholdt Østergaard, who will bring his double bass and play music and lead sing-alongs. With his warmth and presence, he creates an intimate atmosphere with room for both laughter and contemplation.

Along the way, Albert shares humorous tall tales and personal stories from a life of music and knitting – including experiences from knitting at Cuban dance clubs. The evening also revolves around themes such as bullying, self-esteem and human fragility, which many can relate to.

Clear parallels are drawn between the free form of jazz and knitting. Albert talks about the healing powers that knitting has had for him and about his concept of improvisational knitting, where mistakes are not hidden but become a natural and valuable part of the finished result.
