Literature at Langeland Library in Rudkøbing invites you to a unique literary experience where books, nature and community go hand in hand. The theme of this tour is witches and völvas – characters from literature, history and Norse mythology who have inspired writers and stories throughout the ages. During the tour, literature is brought to life as participants walk through the town and out into the surrounding countryside.

At LitteraTUR, literature is experienced in a new way. Along the way, the librarian reads short excerpts from selected works and talks about authors and stories with themes of witches, völvas and mysticism. The tour provides an opportunity to talk about literature, share reading experiences and discover new books in the good company of other literature-loving participants.

An active and inspiring literary experience

LitteraTUR combines movement and immersion. Participants walk at a leisurely pace through Rudkøbing and the surrounding area, where literature is given space to unfold in interaction with nature. At the same time, participants are introduced to the library's many offerings, including e-books, audiobooks, events and reading communities.

When you visit Langeland Library in Rudkøbing, there are many experiences nearby. The charming market town offers small streets, historic houses and cosy urban spaces, where it is obvious to continue the tour after the event. The area around Rudkøbing is located in the middle of the beautiful landscape of the UNESCO Global Geopark South Funen Archipelago, where the landscapes of the Ice Age still characterise the nature around the island. Here, nature, history and culture are closely intertwined.

Practical information

LitteraTUR starts at Langeland Library in Rudkøbing and takes the form of a group walk with readings and conversations along the way. Participants must be able to walk at a normal pace. It is recommended that you wear good footwear and clothing suitable for the weather. The event is open to anyone with an interest in literature and enjoying nature. The library is centrally located in Rudkøbing and can be reached on foot, by bike, by car and by public transport. There is good access to the area around the library.
