Explore local history
The Rudkøbing Town Historical Archive opens the door to a fascinating world of local stories. Here, you can get help from dedicated volunteers who will guide you through the archive’s extensive collection of photographs and share their knowledge about the town’s houses and development. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the very house you’re curious about – or simply to be inspired by the history behind the streets and buildings of Rudkøbing.
The Geopark is also about people
In the UNESCO Global Geopark South Funen Archipelago, the story isn’t just about nature and landscapes, but also about the lives lived here. People, houses and local communities are an important part of the area’s history,
The event focuses on precisely this aspect of the geopark – where past and present meet through personal stories and images from everyday life.
Nearby experiences
When you visit the archive, it’s a great idea to combine it with a stroll around Rudkøbing. Take a stroll through the charming cobbled streets, experience the harbour atmosphere or explore the town’s shops and cafés. You can also venture further into the countryside and experience the South Funen Archipelago Geopark, where traces of the Ice Age and the living archipelago form the backdrop for both nature and culture.
