100 km cycle route on Langeland – a cycling holiday in Denmark with sea, hills and island tranquillity
A cycle route for those who love tarmac and great views
Langeland’s 100 km cycle route is a circular route for those who want to experience the island from the saddle on good tarmac roads. The route starts in Rudkøbing and takes you through the Langeland countryside with coastal roads, open fields, small towns and undulating stretches.
The route is part of the 4 x 100 concept, where four Danish islands each have their own 100 km route on tarmac. On Langeland, you’ll enjoy a varied ride with plenty of peace and quiet, views and elevation gain to give your legs a proper workout.
Through geopark, hathills and castle town
Along the way, you’ll pass Lindelse Nor, which is one of the finest examples of a submerged Ice Age landscape in the South Funen Archipelago UNESCO Global Geopark. Here you’ll encounter a landscape where water, hills and open expanses give the cycle ride a very special rhythm.
The route continues through Langeland’s characteristic hathills and on past Spodsbjerg and north towards Tranekær, where the castle town, the old houses and the green countryside provide the perfect spot to slow the pace down a little. It is a cycle route where the journey is not just about the kilometres – but also about seeing, experiencing and enjoying Langeland along the way.
Suitable for road bikes, hybrid bikes and sturdy holiday bikes
The 100 km cycle route on Langeland is particularly well-suited to road bikes and other bikes that thrive on tarmac. The route is ideal for those looking for a longer day trip, an active holiday in Denmark or an island challenge combining nature and exercise.
Langeland and Strynø were the first places in Denmark to get the new signposted cycle network, and the islands are part of the Bike Friends concept, so there are several places where you can find a bike pump, repair kit or water along the way.
