Solar eclipse on Langeland
Experience the solar eclipse at Skovsgaard Nature Destination with campfire food, interactive presentations, glasses on loan and nocturnal animals.

Experience a solar eclipse at Skovsgaard on Langeland
When the Moon moves in front of the Sun, a large part of the Sun’s disc will be obscured as seen from Denmark. At Skovsgaard, you can experience the partial solar eclipse in scenic surroundings whilst learning more about what is actually happening in the sky. The evening combines nature interpretation, a sense of community and enjoyable activities for both children and adults.
Start the experience with a meal cooked over a campfire
Before turning your gaze to the sky, you can enjoy a cosy meal cooked over a campfire. This provides a relaxed start to the evening and plenty of time to settle into the surroundings at Skovsgaard.
Learn more about the solar eclipse
Through an illustrative activity, you’ll receive an easy-to-understand explanation of how the Sun, Moon and Earth are positioned in relation to one another during a solar eclipse. When the eclipse begins, you can borrow special glasses and watch as the Moon slowly moves across the Sun. In Denmark, the eclipse will be partial, meaning that the Sun will not be completely covered.
Moon snacks and nocturnal animals
After the solar eclipse, the evening continues with moon snacks and the chance to explore which animals become active as darkness falls. Come along on a discovery tour and listen for sounds, rustling and movements in nature. The ticket grants access to the whole of Skovsgaard on the same day, so the visit can be combined with the estate’s natural surroundings, exhibitions and other experiences. Skovsgaard is a nature destination offering free-range grazing, nature experiences and educational activities.
Practical information
Parts of the event take place outdoors, and the ground may be uneven, wet or muddy. Accessibility for wheelchair users may therefore vary between buildings, paths and natural areas. Never look directly at the sun without proper protection. Use the solar eclipse glasses provided and follow the organisers’ instructions during the experience.
