Archipelago Expedition with the Fylla from Langeland

Join this year’s Archipelago Expedition aboard the 100-year-old schooner Fylla in the UNESCO Global Geopark: The South Funen Archipelago. Together, you will explore life and the geological history beneath the surface. How was our archipelago formed? What is its state today? And what can we do to ensure future generations’ connection to – and preservation of – the archipelago’s unique nature?

The trip will be a journey through time at sea, where you’ll trace the threads all the way back to the Ice Age and follow developments up to the present day – with a glimpse into the future. You’ll hold Stone Age tools in your hands, feel their weight and place your fingers exactly where our ancestors once gripped them, creating a connection to everything that came before us.

Together with our experienced local nature guide, you will investigate the current state of the archipelago. You will use professional equipment to measure oxygen levels, take seabed samples and collect marine organisms for further analysis. What do you think you will find?

On the expedition, you will also meet either the geopark’s geologist, historians or other interesting crew members.

Practical information

Please arrive 10 minutes before departure.
Wear warm clothes and flat shoes – it’s cold out at sea.
