Art & interior design in Kædeby Gamle Skole on Langeland

In the middle of the southern Langeland landscape lies Kædeby Gamle Skole – a former schoolhouse, which today provides the setting for art & interior design in a personal and consistent form. Here, the Schytz Haaning family has carefully renovated the old Store Skole and created a living art home where works, colours and materials interact closely.

It is not a traditional gallery. It is a home where art is allowed to fill the rooms and be a natural part of the interior design.

Artists' Open Doors on South Langeland

In connection with Artists' Open Doors on 4 and 5 April, Kædeby Gamle Skole invites you inside to experience art and interior design in a historic setting. Here you can see works by PhoebeNewYork, Tal R, Frederik Næblerød, Anne Torpe, Magnus Fisker, Rasmus Eckhardt and several other artists.

The works are presented as part of the whole – integrated into the rooms rather than hung as in a classic gallery. This provides a different and more sensory experience, where the art interacts closely with materials, colours and interior design.

Contemporary art in a living setting

Behind the venue is the Schytz Haaning family, who run Galleri Schytz Haaning, based in both Kædeby and Vejle. They work with contemporary art and personal total installations, and their experience is clearly evident in Kædeby Gamle Skole.

Here you can explore different artistic expressions and price ranges – and experience how art and interior design can merge in practice.

Art experiences on South Langeland

Kædeby is located close to Humble and the open countryside of South Langeland. When you visit Art & Interior Design at Kædeby Gamle Skole, you can combine the art experience with nature and culture in the area.

For example, take a trip to Gulstav and Dovns Klint, where the dramatic ice age landscape is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark South Funen Archipelago. Here you will find hat hills, coastlines and open expanses that invite you to relax and reflect – a wonderful extension of the experience in the old school.

Practical information

Kædeby Gamle Skole is located in peaceful surroundings on South Langeland and is easiest to visit by car or bicycle. There are parking facilities on site, and public transport is available in the area, but requires planning.

As the house is an older building, access conditions may vary. Guests with special accessibility needs are advised to check in advance.
