History, anecdotes and local traces

With great local insight and a personal flair for storytelling, Tonni Hansen weaves the town’s history together with anecdotes, his own experiences and memories from growing up on Langeland. There is room here for both the big picture and the small stories – about famous locals, local characters, cultural environments, everyday life and the people who have left their mark on Rudkøbing. Along the route, you’ll get closer to the stories of figures such as H.C. Ørsted, Anders Sandøe Ørsted and Mads Lange. You’ll also experience the town’s buildings, statues, art in the urban landscape and SHORES, which, together with the little stories in the streets and backyards, help to showcase Rudkøbing as a vibrant market town.

Rudkøbing in the South Funen Archipelago Geopark

Rudkøbing is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark South Funen Archipelago, and on the town walk you’ll feel the connection between the landscape, cultural heritage and everyday life on Langeland. This tour is for those who wish to experience Rudkøbing with a local guide who knows the town inside out and shares stories with warmth, humour and a historical perspective.
