Tranekær Slotskro

The castle town of Tranekær is located on the beautiful Langeland, and Tranekær Gæstgivergård is situated in the centre of these beautiful and natural surroundings - close to the historic and very beautiful Tranekær Castle.

In the 1700s, the inn ‘Slukefter’ was located on the boundary between Bøstrup and Tranekær parishes. The inn was closed down by the Count of Tranekær Castle - Count Frederik Ahlefeldt-Laurvig - who in 1802 had Tranekær Gæstgivergård built on the site. On 14 April 1803, the inn was given the honour of becoming a royal privileged inn. In 1860, the beautiful old riding stable was built by innkeeper W. From next to the main building.

In the first half of the 19th century, Gæstgiveriet also served as a post inn, before postal transport became more regular and Tranekær got its own post office in the 1870s. Around 1900, Tranekær's social club held its events in Gæstgivergården, and there have been lectures by Herman Bang and others.

In 1953, Tranekær Gæstgivergaard was sold from the estate. Today, the inn has been carefully remodelled, and the old riding stable now serves as a guest house with beautiful and atmospherically decorated rooms.

In 2017, Tranekær Slotskro got Mariah Sama Veith as its new owner.
