5900 Rudkøbing
The Danish Sea Rescue Society in Rudkøbing opens the doors to the lifeboats at the silo in Rudkøbing Harbour. Here you can get a close-up look at life as a volunteer rescuer, hear about their important work and see both the lifeboat and the jet ski up close. The volunteers are ready to talk about emergency preparedness, equipment and working at sea – all year round.
Volunteers on duty around the clock
The station in Rudkøbing consists of 27 dedicated volunteers who cover the entire area from Marstal to Lohals. With a 6-metre motorboat and a Recurunner that can sail in shallow water, they can help everything from sailboats to kayaks and kitesurfers. Come by and get a unique insight into rescue work and life on the water.
In the event of severe weather, the event will be moved from the quay at the Grillhytterne in Skudehavnen to the Danish Sea Rescue Society’s premises at Havnepladsen 39.
Light in the Darkness
The event is part of the ‘Light in the Darkness’ culture weekend held on Langeland and Strynø on Friday 6 November and Saturday 7 November 2026. See the full programme at langeland.dk/lys
