H.C. Andersen’s fairy tales in the light of the church

Many people love H.C. Andersen’s classic fairy tales, which are read, listened to and retold time and time again. But the great poet wrote more than 150 fairy tales, and hidden amongst them are many stories that very few people know.

Ellen Mortensen unearths forgotten fairy tales

At Strynø Church, storyteller Ellen Mortensen unearths a couple of Hans Christian Andersen’s lesser-known fairy tales, dusts them off and gives the audience the chance to discover new facets of the beloved fairy-tale writer.

Storytelling at Strynø Church

The Strynø Literary Society invites you to a cosy evening in the church, where storytelling and H.C. Andersen’s words take centre stage. After the event, there is the opportunity to continue the evening with a meal at Strynø Gl. Mejeri. Booking is required for the meal.

Light in the Dark

The event is part of the ‘Light in the Dark’ cultural weekend, which takes place on Langeland and Strynø on Friday 6 November and Saturday 7 November 2026. See the full programme at www.govisitlangeland.com/light
