Birdwatching in the water mirror

Watch birds from a hide in the water at one of Denmark's finest bird sanctuaries.

The Birdwatching hide in the water mirror is located approximately 300 metres from the beach car park (at the end of Stenbækvej).
Follow the path eastwards into the bird sanctuary and turn left on the tree-lined path.

The observation hide was built in 2018 as the first of its kind in Denmark. It is designed to blend unnoticed into the surrounding nature as a floating hide where bird life can be experienced up close and at water level. The rounds are one-way, so the birds cannot see through the glass.

The bird watching place is built so you can sit in the water and observe the many birds in Tryggelev Nor. There is plenty of seating sheltered from the wind and weather.

The three lagoon lakes are located in an area of 170 hectares owned by the Danish Bird Protection Foundation. In addition to the lagoons, there are reed beds, salt marshes, grassland and scrub. Today, Tryggelev Nor is one of the most bird-rich wetlands in Denmark.

Enjoy the birds from the trails

In Tryggelev Nor, the birds must have peace and quiet. Traffic is therefore only permitted on paths and roads marked on the map. Your pet is welcome in the reserve, but must be kept on a leash.

Traces from the Bronze Age

From the bird hide you can continue 200 metres along the path to another bird tower. Here you'll also find three Bronze Age mounds.
