Beautiful bike ride through orchards, history and castle landscapes
The route from Rudkøbing to Lohals is a sensory cycling experience that takes you through Langeland's lush northern landscape. You cycle along narrow roads, through vibrant forests and villages, past ancient monuments and modern art – all with the archipelago as a backdrop.
Start in Rudkøbing – city life and waves
Rudkøbing provides the backdrop for your departure, with its cobbled streets, harbour environment and small shops. From here, you cycle north, quickly reaching open countryside. The first few kilometres take you through lush orchards – with apples, rose hips and sea views. A taste of Langeland's agricultural culture and the island's nature.
Ancient monuments and forest tranquillity
On the way to Tranekær, you will pass two impressive stone cairns – Kong Renés Høj and Ringelshøj – both testimony to the island's prehistory and particularly beautiful places to take a break. Shortly afterwards, you will come to Åsø Forest, where you can cycle along quiet forest roads with birdlife and green spaces.
Korsebølle Manor and art towers
Just north of Tranekær, you will find Korsebølle Manor, a beautiful and active farm that was once an entire village. It is one of several manor landscapes that you can experience up close on this route. Just before Lohals, you will come to Bræmlevænget, with views of the forest and coast.
Along the route, you will cycle close to several of Langeland's art towers – old transformer stations converted into modern art exhibitions. The towers stand as little surprises in the landscape and create a creative breathing space along the way.
The tour ends in the charming harbour town of Lohals, surrounded by forest and beach. Here you can take a dip, enjoy an ice cream at the harbour or continue north to Hou. Lohals is also a good place to stay overnight before continuing your cycle tour around Langeland.
