SHORES Langeland is once again hosting Little Big Air – an airy, high-flying and action-packed competition for (amateur) kitesurfers.

What to expect

As a spectator at Little Big Air, you’ll see a sky filled with colourful kites as up to 30 kitesurfers take to the water at the same time, harnessing the power of the wind in harmony with the dynamics of the waves to perform spectacular jumps and tricks.

It’s set to be a day all about the wind and the waves – so bring the whole family along and be blown away (and backwards!) by the impressive jumps and wild tricks.

Keep up to date with the date and location on SHORES Langeland’s Facebook page.

A competition of heights and somersaults

At Little Big Air, kitesurfers compete for glory, height and breathtaking tricks. Some participants reach heights of up to 15 metres above the water’s surface as they shoot skywards in the WOO height jump – a spectacular sight as the kitesurfer soars through the air and lands safely with their board beneath them.

Competitions are held in several categories:

  • WOO height competition for women
  • WOO for men, divided into under and over 8 metres
  • Best Big Air rider (unisex)
  • Craziest crash of the day (unisex)

As well as the honour and great prizes, all participants will receive a good-quality T-shirt, a light local lunch, delicious drinks – and the chance to enjoy a sauna if their bodies need warming up after being buffeted by the wind.

A day on the wind’s terms –

Little Big Air is expected to take place on Saturday 3 October, with the option to move it to Sunday 4 October if the wind conditions are better. SHORES Langeland will assess the weather forecast on Thursday evening and announce the final date and location thereafter. If there is insufficient wind on the first weekend, the event will instead take place on Saturday 1 or Sunday 2 November.

The competition will be held on the beach with the best wind conditions – either Bagenkop Strand, Hesselbjerg Strand or Drejet ved Spodsbjerg.

The exact details will be published on SHORES Langeland's Facebook page
