Meet Per Buk at the opening in Rudkøbing
Join us for the opening of Per Buk’s new gable mural in Rudkøbing. Here you can meet the Langeland-based artist and hear about the ideas and story behind the work, which interprets Langeland, Siø and Strynø through curious, free-spirited birds, mythical creatures and a landscape of hathills. The gable mural will also be officially unveiled at 6.00 pm.
Per Buk is exhibiting a selection of his works at the Langeland Visitor Centre, Østergade 23.
Freedom under the same sky
The gable mural is titled “Freedom under the same sky” and centres on freedom, curiosity and community. The bird symbolises the islands’ thirst for freedom, their exploratory nature and their inclusive spirit. It flies freely, yet also in a flock – a contrast that reflects the relationship between individual freedom and the sense of community on the islands. Per Buk grew up in Midtfyn and was part of the South Funen art scene for many years before moving to Langeland. At the opening, you can meet the artist and hear more about the inspiration behind the gable painting and his interpretation of Langeland, Siø and Strynø.
Light in the Darkness
The event forms part of the ‘Light in the Darkness’ cultural weekend, which will take place on Langeland and Strynø on Friday 6 November and Saturday 7 November 2026. View the full programme at www.langeland.dk/lys
