App-guided walk around Bagenkop on the southern tip of Langeland

Go for a walk around Bagenkop and explore South Langeland’s open coastal landscapes, unspoilt nature and charming harbour atmosphere at your own pace. The walk is guided by the Vagabond Tours app, which guides you along the route and provides information about points of interest along the way.

Choose from three routes

The walk starts and ends in Bagenkop, so you can easily combine it with a break at the harbour, a trip to the beach or a visit to the town. You can choose between three routes of varying lengths: a shorter walk, ideal for families and visitors looking for a leisurely day’s walking; a medium-length route for those who want to venture a little further into the countryside; and a longer route for the more experienced walker. What all the routes have in common is that they bring you close to South Langeland’s unique natural landscape, with its salt marshes, cliffs, rolling hills and vast open spaces.

You’ll need the app for the walk

This walk is self-guided using the Vagabond Tours app. The app is an important part of the experience, as it shows you the way and brings together information about the nature, landscape and sights along the route. So make sure you bring a fully charged phone – and ideally a power bank, if you want to be extra well prepared. The app makes it easy to walk the route at your own pace, take breaks along the way and choose the route that best suits the day.

What’s included in the price

When you book the tour, you’ll get access to the Vagabond Tours app, which provides navigation and information about places of interest. The price also includes a water bottle, a bag and a meal voucher, which can be used at selected cafés in Bagenkop and elsewhere on Langeland. This means that the route, the guidance and a well-deserved break have all been planned in advance – so you can concentrate on the walk, the views and the experiences along the way.

A UNESCO Geopark Signature Trail

The walk at Bagenkop is an official Signature Trail in the UNESCO Global Geopark ‘The South Funen Archipelago’. Here you’ll experience a landscape where the traces of the Ice Age, the forces of the sea and human history are closely intertwined. On the longer routes, you’ll pass some of South Langeland’s most striking natural sights, including cliffs, stretches of coastline and areas teeming with birdlife. At Gulstav and Dovns Klint, you can also spot the wild horses from a distance as they graze in the countryside.

Bagenkop, the harbour and the nature of South Langeland

Bagenkop is a great starting point for a day combining nature and harbour atmosphere. The town has its roots as a fishing community, and at the harbour you’ll find both the maritime environment and the relaxed holiday atmosphere that characterises South Langeland. From the town, it’s just a short distance to open countryside, the beach and some of Langeland’s most fascinating natural areas. This makes the trip ideal for anyone who wants to combine walking with tranquillity, fresh air and views of the sea.

Nearby attractions

Whilst in Bagenkop, you can also explore Gulstav Mose, Dovns Klint and the wild horses of South Langeland. Nearby, you’ll also find Klise Nor, where birdlife, sand dunes and coastal nature provide a lovely setting for several short excursions. If you’re keen on more history, the Langelandsfort Cold War Museum is also in the area, and at Hulbjerg Jættestue you can explore Langeland’s ancient past.

Practical information

The tour is self-guided using the Vagabond Tours app. The terrain varies between footpaths, gravel tracks, stretches along the beach and natural ground, which may be uneven in places. The tour is therefore best suited to visitors who are used to walking on varied terrain, and is generally not suitable for wheelchair users. Bagenkop can be reached by car and public transport from the rest of Langeland.
