Wind energy on Langeland
When annual wind energy production is compared with consumption, wind production exceeds the island’s total annual electricity consumption. However, this does not necessarily mean that Langeland is self-sufficient in electricity at all times, as wind production varies.
Solar energy and district heating
On Langeland, electricity is also generated from solar photovoltaic systems, and solar thermal energy forms part of the district heating supply.
More than 4,000 households on Langeland are connected to the district heating network. District heating production utilises, amongst other things, straw, wood chips and solar thermal energy.
Langeland Municipality’s Climate Plan
Langeland Municipality has drawn up a climate plan setting out targets and actions leading up to 2050. The plan contains 65 specific actions and outlines the municipality’s targets for both reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change.
