Green Tourism Organization
VisitLangeland is certified as a Green Tourism Organisation. The certification sets out a number of requirements for the tourism organisation’s work and operations, and compliance with the criteria must be documented and monitored on an ongoing basis.
Green Tourism Organisation
To be certified as a Green Tourism Organisation, a tourism organisation must meet the scheme’s mandatory criteria as well as a proportion of the relevant scoring criteria. These include, amongst other things, requirements and initiatives relating to the organisation’s environmental work, energy consumption, waste, procurement and collaboration with tourism stakeholders.
Among other things, we focus on:
- Energy consumption: We optimise our energy consumption
- Waste sorting: We prioritise waste management in our operations and encourage visitors to do the same.
- Certified tourism operators: We promote accommodation providers, restaurants and attractions with relevant certifications and labels. These may include, for example, Green Key.
- Ongoing documentation: Organisations participating in the Green Tourism Organisation scheme must continuously document their work and undergo inspection visits.
What you, as a guest, can do
Among other things, you can choose accommodation with a relevant environmental certification, use the bus or cycle when travelling around the island, and follow the current advice when out in the countryside.
