In the middle of Sort Sol – a graphic bird universe
Step into a tower filled with black birds and become part of the flock in one of Langeland's most sensory works of art.
Art Tower 11 on Kinderballevej houses SORTSOL, a graphic, sensory work of art by Langeland artist Per Buk. When you enter the tower, you are surrounded by dark bird figures circling around you – like in a whirlwind. Are they flying away, standing guard, or have you become one of them?
The bird as a symbol is central, and the tower becomes a kind of modern birdhouse in the middle of a scenic area where Langeland's rich bird life mirrors the theme of the work. A flock of birds has temporarily settled in this unique space – and invites you to join them.
An artistic play with Sort Sol
A rare phenomenon is given new life – with humour, imagination and interactive participation.
Black Sun is rarely seen on Langeland – but at Kunsttårn 11 you have the opportunity to experience it. The artist challenges this natural phenomenon by transforming it into art: stand on the painted egg in the middle of the tower, turn around ten times and step out. Perhaps a black sky full of birds awaits you?
It is both a work of art and an experience – where the viewer becomes part of the story.
Per Buk – colours, birds and imagination
Meet the artist behind SORTSOL just four kilometres from the tower in his gallery and workshop in Humble.
Per Buk is known for his colourful and experimental works, which range from painting and watercolour to cardboard box art and ceramic sculptures. At Ristingevej 33C in Humble, you will find Galleri PER BUK, where you can experience more of his works and take a look inside his ceramic workshop.
A visit to Kunsttårn 11 can therefore easily be extended with a visit to the gallery, providing a broader insight into the artist's universe, where humour, nature and existence often intertwine.
Langeland's Art Towers - a unique way of experiencing art
Denmark's longest art exhibition can be experienced by visiting 12 former electrical transformer towers on Langeland. The art towers give visitors an artistic experience in the heart of the Langeland countryside.
From North to South and East to West, you can explore the cultural landscape and enjoy art in rural peace and quiet.
The towers are open all year round. A tour around them all will always offer a new experience, influenced by both the season and weather.
